Professor Johanna Fisher
About
I am an experiened professor for over 20 years. I have taught students from pre-K through Graduate School. My students have gone on to do important work in the humanities and the arts. I am also a professional dancer and choreographer.
My vision for education is one that enables my students to be pro-active in their learning and directed in their particular persuits. Students must be free to learn, to self actuaize. I am only a mentor, a facilitator in their learning. This is the primary reason my students succeed.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We begin with an assessment both verbal and written. It is after this that I can begin to design a program of study that will meet the needs of a particular student. We schedule one hour sessions. My belief is that half hour sessions are too short to accomplish much and more than an hour is too much. Concentrated sessions of one hour work best.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My speciality is Medieval Literature, however, I am also trained in Montessori Education. As stated before, I have taught levels from Pre-K through Graduate school.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $50 per hour, although I am open to negotiation.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching at the elementary level and am currently a professor of English Literature.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have wored with a diverse population of students, from special needs to gifted students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I advice students to be specific about their needs and open to a variety of approaches that will meet those needs.
