About
I work in a wide range of subjects, currently focusing on languages (Latin, Greek, Spanish, Italian, and German), while my background is in math and physics (BA and MS from Harvard). Right now I'm a PhD student in Classics (Latin and Greek Literature) at CUNY.
I enjoy a wide range of content areas and have taught them at levels ranging from middle school to college to groups, individuals and in schools. What I focus on is students who want or need more than homework help--who are interested in learning but have had difficult school experience, whether from trauma, an identified learning difference, or just life. I love working with adult and non-traditional students.
With a background in both special and gifted education and advanced content area knowledge, I'm particularly adaptable to what I read as student and family needs. I don't use a fixed curriculum or methodology, but rather focus on getting to know how a student learns and what has worked and not in the past. That said, I am familiar with many Latin, Greek and German curricula and both grammar- and story-focused methods and am happy to work with the curriculum you or your student bring. In content areas, I do both classwork help and standardized test prep, including the SAT (my score was 2400) and GRE.
