AP History And Regents History Prep
About
Veteran History Educator & Former Head of School — 30+ Years in the Classroom
I have spent over thirty years teaching in private high schools, where I taught Global History, AP US History, AP US Government and AP European History. My academic background includes a Master of Arts in History from Touro College, a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Toronto, and School Leadership Certificates from Harvard University. This combination of historical training and Judaic scholarship allows me to teach history, literature, and Jewish studies with both academic rigor and genuine depth.
Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with students of varying abilities and learning styles, including students integrated from specialized programs into mainstream classrooms. I built a fully digital, interactive History curriculum from scratch, and regularly adapted complex historical and textual material so that students at every level could access and engage with it meaningfully.
As a Head of School and Academic Principal for many years, I also coached other teachers on differentiated instruction and worked closely with parents and support staff to set individual academic goals and track student progress, experience that shaped how I approach one-on-one tutoring today.
My tutoring style is patient, structured, and responsive to how each student actually learns rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. I particularly enjoy working one-on-one with individual students, where I can focus entirely on their specific needs and pace rather than managing a full classroom. I have taught students ranging from middle schoolers through high school seniors, in classroom settings of 30 students as well as in small groups and individualized instruction.
Whether the subject is history, English literature, or text study, I focus on building genuine comprehension and confidence, helping students move from struggling with material to engaging with it independently and with curiosity.
