Rachel Neikirk Art Tutoring

I am an experienced art educator who loves teaching private art lessons. I have been working as a private art tutor since 2020. I specialize in portfolio preparation. I have helped four out of five clients get in to the arts magnet middle school of their choice. I have also personalized private lessons for students ages 4-adult.

My clients appreciate that I develop not only technical drawing skills and creativity, but also offer mentorship. Parents note that I have boosted shy students’ confidence. I am a working professional artist and see part of my job as equipping students to envision their future as an artist. I like to let them see aspects of my life as a creative professional. I believe that students as young as elementary-age are ready to learn advanced drawing skills and working towards a future in the arts.

I have a wide range of experience as an educator having also taught art in schools, camps, and workshops. I taught art in a school setting for three years where I worked with all grades K-12. I have led themed art camps for elementary-aged students. I have conducted workshops in silk painting and art-as-ESOL in multiple countries.

I have an MA in Art Education from the University of Florida where I earned a 4.0 GPA and conducted university-funded international research. I also graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Art (Painting) and a minor in Museum Studies from Gordon College.
