About
I offer subject matter expertise in math (through calculus), writing, economics, business, and SAT/ACT prep. At the same time, I teach critical skills for long-term academic and career success. These include how to learn fast and with less effort, score well on tests, write term papers, create and give presentations, conduct Internet research, organize and manage time, and employ powerful productivity tools. My qualifications are MS from Stanford (engineering); an MBA from USC (finance); author of three books including how to succeed in college; and a Community College Instructor Credential.
I enjoy helping people gain confidence, dramatically change their academic success, and raise their career/life horizons. I failed out my first year in college, so I understand students who are struggling. After discovering efficient study skills, I earned an MS from Stanford (engineering) and an MBA from USC (finance). My joy is seeing the light in their eyes as students quickly learn and apply these powerful tools.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask them about their goals, the challenges holding them back, and what they expect from tutoring. Next, we determine if my services can help them. If so, we agree on a plan with mutual responsibilities. Each subsequent session covers what they have done since we last talked. I answer questions and state goal of our current session. The session ends with summary of where we are with regard to our plan and get their agreement on tasks required prior to the next meeting. During this process, they learn important study skills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My qualifications are MS from Stanford (engineering); an MBA from USC (finance); author of three books including insider secrets on how to succeed in college; and a Community College Instructor Credential.
