About
Hello, my name is Debbie,
I worked with an Academic Coaching service while working on my master's in Special Education. My first job after graduating college. Was at a school called New Horizons Academy. There we work with children with disabilities and special abilities. Some students had ADD or ADHD some had severe anxiety about school and some had Asperger's syndrome. Just some examples. I loved working there. One of the most important things that I took away from that school experience. Was that not every day is a learning day for children. You must find the way that each student learns, find the right method, and teach to their style of learning. And to know that not every day is a teachable moment. Some days you just have to sit and listen to the kids. They have bad days as well.
After that, I became a stay-at-home mom for my son. I have been tutoring him throughout his school career. Now that he is a senior and graduating. I would like to begin tutoring again.
