Tutor For You
While I was in the Army, I volunteered as a tutor in the Laubach Literacy program. This valuable experience inspired me to go back to school to learn more about the English language and the craft of writing. Thus, in 2016 I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Linguistics at the University of Arizona - Global Campus. And in 2022 I completed my Master of Arts degree in English and Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University. My studies included nonfiction writing (essay, composition, memoir), fiction writing (short story, novel, screen-writing), ESL/ELL, language learning disorders, American literature, and other subjects in linguistics. I also designed a 10-module course in short story fiction writing. And I participated in numerous peer-review writing workshops. In these workshops, I was tasked with critiquing assignments and providing suggestions for editing and revision.
I was a foster child until I started high school. During those years I was on my own for the most part when it came to my education. I look back to that time and wish I had someone by my side to help me read and write. I see the value of literacy and want to help others in their educational journeys. My approach is to meet the student at the level where she/he is with care, patience, and non-judgment. I have experience tutoring students at the Junior High, Senior High, and College levels.
