What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I evaluate the student's current level and build on his/her strengths; we then develop a study plan so the student will succeed in his/her goals. I am always gentle and encouraging.
I can give your child a strong foundation in grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing --no matter what the grade level. Such a foundation will serve your child well in future learning and test-taking.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a writer of literary essays and commentary. I have very polished writing and editing skills.
I taught writing and literature at UNC, and I have been invited to teach advanced writing at other schools.
I have a Master's in Comparative Literature from Indiana University and a Bachelor's from Brooklyn College. I also have post-graduate work in International Affairs at Columbia and I qualified for the Foreign Service.
