I am masters' degree trained engineer from California with 10 years of experience working in Silicon Valley startups making medical devices. I have long had a personal passion for teaching science and math, and have been a tutor and mentor in those areas. I have recently moved to New York and am excited to continue with that work.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to first understand who the student is, and what they like personally. Then we talk to find out what they are good at in school, and what their overall goals are with their future, and the course. Then we figure out what the obstacles have been in their path to success. Obstacles are often around challenging subject matter, or low motivation to study or do homework which has caused them to fall behind. Both of these are things I can help with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an undergraduate and a master's degree in engineering, and have been working as an engineer while tutoring and mentoring students as well. As is necessary for being an engineer, I have had success in the science and math courses up through calculus, physics, and biology.
I have tutored as well as been a counselor of a computer camp, and been an industry mentor for science students ranging from elementary to high school.

Pricing will depend on the level of coursework which needs tutoring and the travel time required to reach the student.
How did you get started teaching?
I started in college by tutoring in high school math. A friend knew someone whose child needed help and referred me for my first job as a tutor.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ranging in age from 8 to 18. All students have been under my guidance for STEM related fields. I have worked with students in need of help with a course, computer camp attendees, science fair participants, as well as general science mentoring.
