Hi there! I am a certified teacher in both Childhood Education and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I have been teaching in a NYC public elementary school for 9 years; 4 years spent as an ENL teacher in grades K-5, and now I currently teach 4th grade general education. I have also taught adults abroad, with a focus on English grammar and conversation skills. With this broad range of experience, I am qualified to teach various age levels and subjects. Though my passion lies in helping young English learners feel more comfortable, confident and excited about learning a new language, I love working with my students on various skills and helping them grow as readers, writers and mathematicians alike. I know that all students are unique, and I aim to get to know them and come ready with research-based strategies and lessons to foster interest, engagement, and lots of learning!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I always start by getting to know my students! I like to find out their favorite subjects, hobbies, etc. so that I can keep in mind their interests when I plan lessons. Then I will give a brief assessment to determine academic strengths and areas for growth. Finally, we'll set goals together and I'll begin tailoring instruction around their needs.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Masters Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and an Advanced Certificate in Childhood Education. I have taught in NYC public elementary schools for the past 9 years, and currently teach 4th grade general education (Reading, Writing and Math). Most of my experience and expertise lies within grades K-5, but I have also taught adults abroad with a focus on English conversation skills and grammar.

My lessons are $120 / hour.

How did you get started teaching?

I had always wanted to be a teacher since I was young and enjoyed working with kids, from babysitting in middle school to tutoring in college and beyond. Right from the getgo, I knew that I wanted to end up in a classroom setting for good. I love getting to help kids on a daily basis, creating an environment where learning feels exciting and accessible so that every child can discover the joy of reaching new milestones.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with children of all grade levels as well as adult ENL learners. The majority of my experience is within grades K-5.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I love live music! I recently went to a holiday choir concert. It was festive, fun and very moving!
