Science Tutoring
About
Hii,
My name is Samantha and I currently work as a scientist in cancer immunology for a private pharmaceutical company. I have a bachelors degree in biology and a masters degree in biomedical sciences. I have a lot of experience tutoring undergraduate and high school students. I also have experience with high school mentorship and guiding students through science competitions such as STS, WESEF and ISEF.
I use these subjects (biology and chemistry) in my every day work and I have many tricks to help you understand and remember confusing information and I love the subjects I teach! I enjoy helping students understand science because too often students don't like their science subjects because they spend hours trying to memorize terms, but don't understand the material well enough to apply it. I love to open the window that teaches students how to study and apply their work to everyday life.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Prior to our first meeting, I would prefer if student or parent could send me the topics they are struggling with, and examples such as homework questions or school material. This way I can prepare our first lesson to find the trouble areas and focus on how the student learns- so they can excel in these topics.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in science and a professional 9-5 in Science. I have been tutoring since I was in middle school, and I understand that people learn differently.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was in middle school I used to tutor my friend's in Math when they were having trouble, and when I got into high school I would get extra credit to help teach an Algebra class during my study hall. I also had a younger sister, that I was always helping with school. While I was pursing my undergraduate degree I tutored many classes and helped many students.
