About

I am a veteran classroom teacher with much experience who really enjoys interacting with students, helping them improve and feel comfortable with the subject matter! I have many notes from satisfied and appreciative clients, indicating that I helped them significantly improve their SAT/ACT scores, create an impactful college essay, feel more comfortable in their English or History classes to write that research paper or give an oral presentation. I tutor in my in- home office or via Skype.

Frequently asked questions

I try to zero in on exactly where the areas of educational needs are and help the student feel comfortable with the process, constantly assessing growth.... with lots of positive reinforcement along the way!

I earned my undergraduate degree at Penn State and my Masters degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania. I have taken many educational enrichment courses along the way, have been department supervisor of other teachers, have created courses, and have taught teachers methodolgy.

Currently, my rate is $90 per full hour for SAT and ACT, SSAAT (and all other test prep) tutoring as well as classroom subject tutoring.

For all college work, essay writing, college list determination, etc, my rate is $115.

I always loved middle and high school, and I have always been invigorated by the educational environment. When I attended college, I knew that I could only pursue a career when the "work" wasn't really "work", and could be great fun. I still find interacting with students quite enjoyable, and I feel my students pick up on my positivity, and as a result, they can feel comfortable and involved in the  learning experience.

I work with students Grade 6 through college. I work with all intelligence levels, from  learning different to the  academically gifted, and many in between.

I have a drawer full of notes from students and parents alike, expressing their gratitude for the work I have done with them Here are a few recent ones:

"Many thanks for your expertise in helping to prepare our daughter for the SATS, and for your assistance on her college essay. We truly appreciate your kindness and understanding as our daughter navigated her high school years....."

And another: "I'm very happy to say that today I got accepted to Lee Iacocca's Global Institute. Everyone in my family is very excited. Thank you so much for all of your help with the application process. I definitely could not have done it without you.

And another: "Thank you so much for all your help. Miss you! Already accepted my  offer to Penn State!"

And finally: "....... I also want to thank you for the confidence you instilled in me during our time together."

Look for experience, honesty, and enthusiasm! Ask specific questions and expect competent, knowledgeable responses.
