I am a passionate educator with over 20 years of teaching experience. I am a high school science teacher. I am certified to teach both biology and chemistry. Biology is my area of expertise. I have taught biology for over 20 years and AP biology for more than a decade. I have been a College Board reader for the AP biology exam for the past 4 years. I have consistently been able to have the majority of my students get college eligible scores on the AP biology exam. 81% of my students last year received college eligible scores. I am able to accomplish this because I improve my teaching every year, I obtain valuable insight every year as an approved College Board reader and I use the approved College Board MYAP resources. I have access to these college board resources which give my students the most experience with authentic questions. I am able to prepare my students at a level that consistently exceeds national and Pennsylania levels.

I teach with enthusiasm and I am endlessly fascinated with the world of biology so that enthusiasm bubbles over to my students in my classroom or via Zoom.

I became a National Board Certified teacher 5 years ago. My certification is in secondary science with biology. It was an arduous process to obtain this certification and I did it without having to repeat-the first time pass rate is 45%. The depth and breadth of my biology/chemistry knowledge allowed me to obtain a near perfect score on the knowledge component of the National Board Certification.

I love teaching biology at all levels and my passion for the subject and compassion for my students have allowed me to give my students an “extra” ordinary biology experience. I teach with my heart and my mind.

I had Ms.Barnett as a teacher for two years in high school, and she has been one of the best teachers Ive had. She taught for my Biology Honors and AP Biology class, which were both science subjects that I was not confident in at first. But throughout the time I had in her class I started growing more confident as the way she teaches allowed me to actually understand many topics at one rather than going home confused on what I had just learned. If you ever have her as a tutor or teacher I would consider you lucky, because she will make sure you pass the class you need to learn.
