About

I am a recent graduate of Monmouth University in Secondary Education & History. You should consider having me tutor your student for the following reasons.

First, I have been in the shoes of your child before. I know what it is like to struggle in various subjects. I am motivated to inspire and motivate students to improve and not give up on their education.

Second, I earned an endorsement in special education, also at Monmouth, by taking eighteen credits of relevant classes. I know the strategies to use to ensure improvement and enthusiasm for the subject. I've had experience in using these strategies in the classroom during my year in student teaching. I have been getting a good sense of what works with students and what does not work.

Finally, I graduated college with a Summa cum Laude. If you don't know what that means, it means that I graudated with the highest academic honor a college student can get, based on their GPA. What does that mean for you? I believe part of academic success is study skills and organization. There is this saying, "Work smarter, not harder." I can teach your child how to plan ahead and become more organized.

To close, I am very passionate about history and making a difference in the lives of students. I know what it is like not to be motivated and feel like I hit rock bottom of the academic world. But, after I pushed myself and reached for the skies, I am motivated to teach students to do the same.

Experience:

1) I student taught 6th grade World History at Bayshore Middle School of Leonardo, NJ.

2) I observed and got involved in a 8th grade American history class, and high school history classes. These schools included Red Bank Regional High School (Little Silver, NJ), Raritan High School (Hazlet, NJ), Middletown High School South (Middletown, NJ), and Bayshore Middle School (Leonardo, NJ).

3) I have also been substitute teaching in Keyport Public Schools (Keyport, NJ), Old Bridge Township Public Schools (Old Bridge Township, NJ), and Red Bank Borough Middle School (Red Bank, NJ).

4) I spent two summers as a paid paraprofessional in the Middletown Extended School Year program. If you don't know what that means, it is a 6-week summer school for students with moderate to severe disabilities. I assisted the class of my former teacher & mentor. I also worked with a student in particular in every task including life skills, vocational skills, and academic skills.

List of Qualifications and Certifications:

1) Summa cum Laude - Monmouth University 2020

2) Bachelor's in Secondary Education & History from Monmouth University

I will answer this question in two parts.

Part 1: Education -

I respond naturally to making a difference in the lives of others. The way I can do that is to touch on who I am and my experiences, especially with the fact I was a student of special education. In addition, I enjoy inspiring students to be who they are every day because they only live once. I enjoy preaching that academics is a true way for students to immerse themselves in their passion.

Part 2: History -

I love history and culture immensely! I could even remember the US presidents in order when I was in 2nd grade. Now, I love researching, writing, and watching documentaries about history. I want to be a contributor to teaching our society to not to make the same mistakes as we did in the past. Furthermore, I think various cultures are so fascinating, especially ones that are different than mine.

The assignments were certainly memorable, Mr. Crean knew how to cut to the chase and teach us what we exactly needed to know. I had lots of fun from these assignments and I would do them even in the summer if I could.

I loved the way that Mr. Crean would always encourage us to keep on trying! If the assignment was hard, he would clear up something without giving the answer, and help us with it. He would always tell us how great we are doing. I loved having Mr. Crean teach history. He is a great teacher!

    Frequently asked questions

Whatever a student needs help with whether it is with homework, improving in history, getting advice on study and organizational skills, I will be there. First, I'll listen to the student and then figure out what to do from there. If a student needs to participate with different lessons with me, I'll take time to plan them (only up to 2 days in advance).

Whatever the students' needs are, I will adapt my teaching from there.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education & History with an endorsement in special education from Monmouth University. I graduated with Summa cum Laude.

My advice is after reading the profile, think about the potential trustworthiness of the teacher. Trust is key to student success. It is the foundation of building a successful student-teaching relationship.
