Significant info from LinkedIn:

6 full years of experience as HS Chemistry teacher for 3 different levels of instruction (including those with in-class support co-teaching). Full year of experience with remote teaching and hybrid instruction.

4 full years teaching HS AP Chemistry.

Nearly 4 years experience tutoring college-level chemistry (Gen Chem I and II) in 1-on-1 and small group settings at New Jersey City University.

Graduated Cum Laude Honors with 3.67 GPA at NJCU for B.S. in Chemistry and Secondary Education.

Having students go from not believing they can do it to saying "oh, this is easy!"

To go along with that, I love seeing the improved results on tests/quizzes after practice with me.

-General HS Chemistry (non-AP, non-SAT subject test prep) - $45/hr

-AP Chem and/or SAT subject test prep- $60/hr

-College-level Gen Chem I & II (No Organic Chem) - $60/hr

To keep openings for other students there is a 2-hour limit per session.  Exceptions possible depending on schedule.

Small group sessions may be possible depending on the amount (less than 5), agreement to go over the same topics/problems, and available tools at location (for example, a whiteboard or projector and a bigger room would be beneficial for group sessions)

Short summary of why I became a HS chemistry teacher:

As a freshman in HS, I was placed in Honors Biology, but did not like the class at all; and even struggled to maintain B's.  Due to this, I dropped to "regular-level" chemistry for my sophomore year since I had thought it would be more of the same.  To my surprise, I ended up enjoying chemistry and performing very strongly by getting A+'s every marking period.

When deciding what to major in for college, I simply looked back to my grades and remembered I was very good at chemistry and math.  I decided to major in chemistry, but did not have any plan of a future career to use with that major.  In my first year in college chemistry courses, I stood out compared to my peers as my experience from HS and strength in the content knowledge were well-above the average student there.  Many of my fellow college students were struggling on very simple concepts that should have been instructed in HS.

Long story short, this led to me peer-tutoring college students and realizing that not every student was coming to college prepared with a strong chemistry/math background.  Is it how they approached high school or were their teachers bad/boring/not relatable?  Either way, after doing this for awhile, and enjoying seeing the progress of my peers' handle of concepts, I realized I could do this for a career.  So, instead of just tutoring college-level chemistry, why not get to the students at a younger age to inspire and build confidence in a subject that infamously gets looked at as difficult and boring?  Maybe this will lead to students pursuing STEM majors who otherwise had no intention of doing so.  And so, while currently teaching a few years at the HS level (and even AP Chemistry), I would like to expand and help students in other high schools in the area who may need the extra practice for whatever reason.

Students telling me either in person or in my yearbook that me being their teacher is the reason they are deciding to major in chemistry, chemical engineering, or other STEM fields.  Also, seeing students get 4’s and 5’s on the AP chem exam to show that all of their hard work paid off.

Have I given it my very best or am I just giving up and looking for someone to tell me the right answer?

Have I searched online to find a related tutorial video on the topic I need help with?
