About
Results of receiving tutoring with me are long lasting. I use models/pictures to explain the math. I look for weakness from the past that is causing chaos in the present that will ruin the future math learning. I try to make connections that kids understand. I've been doing this for a long time, and see that kids want to do well in math, but there are so many misconceptions from previous experiences. Many students only know one way...their teacher's way....and sometimes it's based on a dead-end approach. Sure, you’ll get that answer correct this year, but there is no true understanding. I like seeing the lightbulbs go off when I'm working with kids. They feel as though they can learn the math. I like to see what the problem is that is preventing the learning (the root cause) and address that. Once you hit that sweet spot, the confidence builds and you're ready for more success.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from U of Miami with a mechanical engineering degree and received an MBA while working at United Technologies in Florida. I knew that I had skills that weren't being tapped there and did not have the passion for that line of work. Teaching was always something I was intersted in and I'm glad I made the switch. My true passion is working with kids one-on-one in math. Been a school teacher working in math since 2001.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
At this point, it's based on travel and topic, but usually in the 50-70 dollar range for teaching. My travel time is charged at 45 per hour.
