Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step is getting to know the student and find out what they like. I found that relating math to things I am interested in, made math less painful. The next step to find out what areas they are weak in, and strengthen them. Once those skills are solidified, then we can continue to work through the school year.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge between $13-15 an hour depending on the math level, and age of the student.
How did you get started teaching?
In middleschool, I helped tutor some elementary school kids that I knew. I found that they were learning math more effectively. From that point, I decided to continue to tutor. In highschool, I tutored in the Homework Help Center. There I mainly tutored math, but also helped with music and US History. Now, I mainly focus on math because that is my strong suit.
