About this tutor

I help students understand chemistry in a way that teachers often can't. My enthusiasm for the subject is contagious and many students have actually found chemistry to be fun and interesting after meeting with me. I love what I do and it comes through in my work.

My tutor helped me a lot and was patient when I didn’t understand some concepts.

Ariella was amazing. She first tutored my daughter in chemistry and made everything so easy for her to understand. Ariella even brought tools and models for her to use. My daughter started with a D in chemistry and Ariella help her end the year with a B plus. She also helped my daughter in AP physics and math. Best tutor ever.

From the student: Working with Ariella was very comfortable. She made chemistry fun, and complicated concepts much easier to grasp and understand. Ariella was amazing at detailed descriptions, providing alternative ways to understand the same complicated information, and added great visual aids as needed. She is so patient and really seeks to understand the best way for you to learn. Ariella loves teaching Chemistry, and you can't help but get excited about it too! I really looked forward to going to tutoring with her. I will miss having her as a teacher extraordinaire! I also got an A in Chemistry! From the mom: Ariella is an outstanding Chemistry tutor/teacher! I know she will do great things in her field. She has a contagious love for Chemistry. She is patient, relaxed, smart. I am so grateful we found her and have come to know her. I would give her much more than five stars! A++ Thank you, Ariella!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I like to meet up with students for a short session for free to see if we work well together. If the student feels comfortable with me and believes I can help, we set up a formal tutoring session. Otherwise, no harm done.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am currently a Biotechnology Masters student, and graduated as the valedictorian from Kean University in 2020. I have been accepted to Rutgers for a PhD in Chemistry, starting in July. I've done very well in all of my chemistry related classes and tutored chemistry on campus for 2 years. I have successfully tutored high school chemistry, general chemistry and organic chemistry off campus as well. Before returning to school I worked as a paramedic for 12 years, as well as a CPR instructor for 5.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I charge $50/hour after the first 30 minute trial session. If multiple hours are needed at one time (i.e. exam prep), I charge less per hour.

How did you get started teaching?

I began teaching CPR about 5 years ago. When I returned to school, I found that I was very good at helping my fellow students understand whatever material we were learning. I was asked to become a campus tutor, specifically for chemistry where many students struggled. My sessions were always fully booked and my students saw significant improvement in their grades.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have tutored both high school and college level chemistry students.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Find someone who makes the subject exciting and understandable for you. Someone you click with. It makes communication so much easier.
