Enlighten Tutors
About
There are several qualifications that I have that would make me a great tutor for your child/student. Not only do I have my own tutoring company and have 6 years of curriculum developing experience outside of the classroom and at my previous middle school, I founded the AP Literature course at my school and have helped develop its curriculum for over two years. On a professional level, I am able to connect with urban students since I am a product of Bronx public schools and an Ivy League graduate. Overall, I am in the business of transforming school culture, curriculum, and student’s lives.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I do a free 30-min consulation with the student and the family to figure out what the students needs and wants are for the specific project. I then give the student a diagnostic to assess what the current skills of the student are.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a professional tutor for over 7 years. In addition, I am currently an AP Literature instructor and have been teaching for four years. I am now expanding my practice and am attending Columbia University, Teachers College and plan to graduate in December with my masters in English Education.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge $75 an hour for standard tutoring and $100 an hour for SAT tutoring.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in college when I did a teaching fellowship at a charter school in Brooklyn. I taught 7th grade and then 4th grade. I realized that I had a passion for education and continued from there.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students with different learning needs.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was super sad when my recent group of seniors graduated this year. They were the best cohort of students that I have ever taught.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise the student to list out what their goals are and then create a system of organization to achieve those goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think through their current skill level and think about the amount of hard work that it will take to get there.
