About
Hello! My name is Gayle Smith. I am a Kindegarten teacher of 17 years, mother of three extremely amazing and successsful young adults, and I also have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. I pride myself on making learning fun and interesting. I approach learning from an experiential point of view, catering to children of multiple learning styles. I am Orton Gillingham trained, Handwriting without Tears trained, and well-versed in Reader's and Writer's Workshop.
My goal is to help elementarty children avoid the summer slump, in a creative, hands-on fashion! Who says summer "school" has to be boring?
There is nothing more fulfilling than watching little humans, who enter in September barely able to recognize their names, leaving in June reading and writing, adding and subtracting!!
It is like watching a miracle unfold in front of you. I cannot imagine anything so amazing and gratifying.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first speak to the parents to find out in what area the child is struggling. Next, I visit the child to get a sense of what type of learner he/she seems to be simply by talking, playing, drawing.
