I have taught and tutored high school math students for Algebra thru AP Calculus as well as ACT and SAT math prep for over 12 years. I currently tech Precalculus (honors and CP) and AP computer science.
I enjoy helping students connect with the problem solving skills needed to be successful at all levels and abilities of math.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My initial meeting/consult with students is free. During this meeting, we will discuss the areas where the student is experiencing trouble, or what their goals for achievement in the classroom, or on standardized SAT/ACT or PARCC assessments. Based on this dialog, we will agree on an instructional plan to meet their objectives.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked as a high school math and computer science teacher for almost 10 years. I am currently teaching honors Precalculus and Calculus as well as two AP Computer Science classes. Prior to this, I worked for over 20 years in the industrial automation market having earned my BS in electrical engineering from the University of Rochester.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching high school math in 2010 after 20 years of working as an engineer in industrial automation industry.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all levels, from students who I have helped achieve near perfect ACT math scores to students who needed guidance and support in basic Algebra 1.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have I exhausted all of my resources (textbook, online, friends, family) before coming to the teacher for help.
Students need to struggle with some concepts and persevere to get a deeper understanding of the problem solving process.
