About
As a poet, writer, and editor saving language one typo at a time, I am passionate about language and wordplay, and enthusiastic about working with students. I understand how to effectively interact with every age and grade level, and offer individual tutoring to meet all student needs. Nothing should be intimidating about communicating via writing, and I guarantee this. I tutor and guide students in all aspects of writing, including: homework assignments, essays, general writing, college essay writing/coaching, creative writing, and much more. Other writing & editing student services include: blog posts, book-length manuscripts, poetry, resumes, etc.
I enjoy helping students turn grueling writing and reading assignments into a pleasant experience, and especially observing youth be transformed by language through reading and writing. As a candidate for my MFA-Creative Writing at The New School, I have discovered younger generations do not read. Without reading, there is no writing. I love to share reading lists with students, and once again, appreciate the transformation I have witnessed. Students now approach me for reading lists. When I work with young poets and writers from grade school to middle and high school through college, I am able to extract a creative sense and curiosity they did not know they had. To watch them shine through this discovery is a gift.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I make sure students are comfortable working with me by introducing myself, sharing my writing and teaching experience, and answer all questions. I like to know a bit about their learning process and what challenges they need to overcome. Once established, I focus on these challenges. I review the assignment and extract what the student does know, by focusing on their strengths. Every student is unique, therefore, process varies according to age, level, learning ability. I like to let the student feel confident and by gently guiding them through the process, this is achieved. Obviously, I correct typos, grammar, spelling, and concentrate on all the nuts and bolts of writing. But, I find the creative and confidence-building process, geared toward each individual student, is paramount. I complete assignments with them, so they end a session knowing they can achieve objectives. Finally, if relevant, I always provide a reading list. My goal is to reveal the joy in writing and reading.
