FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Tutoring sessions are held at the public library.

Initial tutoring session is two hours; subsequent sessions are for one hour three days a week if you want to improve your grades.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

The cost of everyone's first tutoring session/introduction is 40.00. (Two hours of time is available to you.)

Depending on the subject being covered, the needs of the student, and intensity or degree of tutoring required, fees range from $30.00-$60.00 per hour.

Minimum tutor time schedule is one hour per day two days per week. (Recommend three days per week.)

Maximum tutor time schedule is two hours per day three days per week. (Exceptions will be made for special circumstances)

How did you get started teaching?

While studying for tests and exams, I enjoyed sharing my 'cheat sheets', mnemonics, and silly rhymes to retain test material with my classmates. It made learning fun.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with high school students, college students, and medical students.

The anxious or nervous student usually shows the most benefit from a tutor as they know the commitment required to suceed.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

The joyous smile and high five from someone who got a B+ on a neuroclinical anatomy exam after we reviewed the cranial nerves and used mnemonics to improve his memory recall. Fantastic!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a tutor in your area of expertise?

You will be provided with all the study tools and test taking strategies you need to suceed. Do your homework. Read your books. That way you know exactly what you don't understand. Tutors will give you the biggest bang for your buck when our targets are focused on your weak areas.

What questions should students think through before talking to tutors about their needs?

Can I learn this on my own and save my money if I give myself the time I really need for the subject?

Are there study groups that I can participate in?

Can I ask my teacher or professor for recommendations to improve my grades?

Are there students who took the class last year/last semester that can provide advice?
