Elementary Education
About
Hello! I'm at 1st grade teacher who loves helping students to further their understanding in core subject areas like Math and English. I do this through a variety of methods depending on your child's needs and learning style. My goal is to help your child soar in school and reach the height of their abilities through the use of manipulatives, hands-on tools, as well as other methods.
I absolutely love teaching! I fell into it by substituting in the Southern Regional School District and decided to go back to school for.my teaching certification. I currently have Bachelor's degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Elementary Education. When I went back to school for elementary education, every time we had an internship, observation, or student teaching experience, I fell more and more in love with the profession. Since graduating in 2017, I have been teaching 1st grade (2 years!) and I absolutely love every moment of it. I love it when you can see a child have that "aha" moment and the lightbulb clicks on for them! Those moments are the reason I teach.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I like to get to know them before diving right into teaching. To do this, I ask parents and the student for general information such as likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, and general interests. I also like to talk to the student and work on various tasks that can help to build trust and comfort, as well as allowing me to get a better understanding of his or her learning style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I currently have Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Elementary Education. I am certified to teach Middle School Science and am also currently going back to school for my certification in Special Education.
