Exceptionally Elementary Tutoring
About
I consider myself a dynamically passionate educator with a wide variety of skills and knowledge. I am confident that I would be a valuable asset to your community.
I graduated from Rowan University in May 2014 with a BA in Elementary Education and a BA in Liberal Studies:English/Writing Arts. I obtained 3 certificates in the state of New Jersey: Elementary Education (K-6), Middle School Language Arts/Literacy (6-8), and Preschool-Grade 3. My experience thus far has provided me with a wide range of skills in teaching students varying in ages, grades, abilities, backgrounds, and cultures. I uphold a strong commitment to my students’ lifelong learning, developing my ability in teaching toward state standards. I aim my instruction to reach my students’ highest potentials for success academically, socially, and emotionally through promoting cooperation, teamwork, and hands-on learning. By using a variety of teaching methods to reach all learners, I constantly reflect on my own instructional delivery. I have had the pleasure of teaching in the Pleasantville School District over the past year, in addition to two years of experience teaching in Atlantic City. Prior to these positions, I taught Kindergarten and Pre- Kindergarten in a private school outside of Philadelphia, PA. I have gained extensive experience in implementing thematic units and rigorous, yet developmentally-appropriate, instruction for all learners.
Students deserve to learn in a way that makes the most sense to their personal learning style and needs. I differentiate and modify many forms of instruction, activities, and assessments, including experience differentiating and scaffolding small group readings, guided readings, Daily 5 activities, mathematics instruction, and writing. When planning lessons, I consider every student's needs, infusing aspects of their own lives to spark their interest and engage them. I utilize flexible seating, kinesthetic activities, multidisciplinary and authentic literature, and inquiry-based learning to ensure that my students feel safe and supported, promoting social-emotional learning and character education in every lesson when applicable.
Compassion and collaboration are synonymous with success. My classroom, whether virtual or in- person, is a safe space where children feel comfortable to take risks and are challenged, supported in all facets of learning. Through open lines of communication, I can share my students’ progress and work with families to facilitate learning at home.
It is my hope to take my teaching experience, training and programs, and collaboration skills to flourish as a tutor. I am confident that I would be a positive and innovative asset to your child's school career.
