About
I am the Founder and CEO of Honest Learning. We are on a mission to restore and renew American education.
I focus on providing effective and tiered, college-prep reading and writing instruction to middle and high school students. I use traditional and international methodologies rarely used in the modern-day American school. My background in curriculum development and data analysis in the area of literacy will enable me to pinpoint academic deficits and remediate those deficits to accelerate instruction.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will assess a student first to address academic deficits immediately and maximize our instruction time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master of Education in Elementary and Special Education. I worked for 3 years as a special education teacher and years as a literacy coach at the middle school level. My undergraduate degree in Spanish and Italian contributes to my linguistic specializations.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ensure you hire an expert. Whenever someone claims to teach all grade levels and all subjects, be cautious. Work with experts.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What area of reading is the student struggling with? Is the student able to read but not understand? Can the student read multisyllabic words? Is there an articulation problem? (Does the student know all of the speech sounds?)
Has the student had spelling instruction? Is the teacher(s) simply requiring the student to write more to "improve" their writing? Does the student truly understand the writing process? Have they been taught grammar explicitly or is it just thrown along with the "editing" process?
