Hi there! My name is Madeline and I am a 10th grade English teacher. I tutor in all areas of English- reading, essay writing, creative writing, college applications... I am here to help with it all!
I love working with students to show them that reading and writing don't have to be a chore. They can actually be fun! I bring games, activities, and more into my teaching to create an engaging learning environment where students can thrive.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically spend some time getting to know them before diving straight into the curriculum. I try to adjust my teaching to the interests of the students to engage them fully with the material.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in English Teaching with a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of New Hampshire. I am currently working towards my Master's degree in Secondary Education, which I will complete in May 2021.

I am willing to work with each individual student and their family to customize their payment.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as a volunteer in a special education primary school in Tanzania.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages- preschool through college. I also have experience working with special education students as well as ESOL students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, I taught a lesson on The Great Gatbsy where we reviewed and analyzed the novel in the form of a virtual escape room. My students learned about deeper literary analysis while working together and having fun!
