Welty Tutoring
About
I will challenge you to find the solution to what you are working on, while still providing you the support needed to gently nudge you in the right direction.
I also provide down to earth tutoring. If I don't know the answer to a question off the top of my head, I will let you know, and I will show you how I am finding the answer and further explain based on what we find together.
I love to see the satisfaction on a student's face as they figure out the problem. I had many students in my previous tutoring experience really enjoy the way I not only helped them figure out the current problem, but also give them the tools they needed to remember how to solve similar problems at a later date.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start by having my new student share their goals for our tutoring sessions. I then will ask what they feel like they need my assistance with, and then we will work together to figure out the best way to proceed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I majored in biology and psychology in my undergraduate program, as well tutoring for many classes associated with these majors during my undergradate.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard Tutoring Session - $15/hour
This includes reviewing notes from class and helping with homework assignments.
Test Prep Tutoring Session - $20/hour
This includes reviewing everything that could be on the test, as well as helping predict some of the questions or major topics that you should spend extra time studying.
Final Test Prep Session - $25/hour
This includes going over the entire semester's worth of material, including all homework assignments, previous quizzes, and previous tests. Note: this only applies when the final is a cummulative final.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started tutoring during my undergraduate, when my professors told me they thought I would be a great tutor. I started with the tutoring center at my university just tutoring for two classes, and by the time I graduated I was tutoring for upwards of 10 to 15 classes.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked all types of students, from those who just want another pair of eyes on their work to those who need the material taught in a different format from their instructors. I have worked with students by using new or different teaching styles than their instructor to inhance learning.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
In my experience, there are two big questions a student needs to ask themselves before talking to a teacher about their needs. These are:
1. How much understanding do I currently have of the topic?
2. What specific areas do I have questions about?
Answering these two questions before asking for help enables the student to focus the teachers attention on exactly what they need answered, and makes the best use of the limited time the student has with the teacher.
