About
A recent college graduate with a degree in Biology, I am committed to helping my students understand their content. Even when the subject matter is complex, I seek to cultivate curiosity and wonder. The world is a strange place, and the study of its strange beings doesn't have to be a bore. A few things to know about me:
- I graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, with a bachelor's in Biology.
- I pursued a teaching license as part of a master's program at the University of Mary. I am currently one class away from my license.
- I have substitute taught in a wide variety of settings, from 1st grade to 12th grade, ranging from single-day assignments to a 2-month long-term job (which required writing lesson plans and teaching content).
- I completed a 12-week student teaching experience in a 7th-grade Life Science classroom. Responsibilities included writing and executing lesson plans that were accesible to all students, accommodating different learning styles and abilities.

I enjoy inspiring others to be passionate about science. Sometimes all it takes is a little perspective shift to truly appreciate the study of the natural world, and that's a shift I've experienced myself.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My plan with new students is as follows:
- Get to know a little about the student: interests, hobbies, dream job. Share a little about myself.
- Inquire on what subjects the student would like support with and how they like to learn. Are they a visual learner? Do they like to make models or work with their hands?
- Maintain communication in order to be as prepared as I can for the student. Discuss the next week's subject so I can prepare my own notes.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have extensive training in Biology and Education, with a Bachelor's in Biology from Concordia College (Moorhead) and a teaching license through the University of Mary (Bismarck). I have multiple practicum experiences under my belt, as well as a 12-week student teaching experence in 7th-grade Life Science.
