George Barley

I'm a good communicator. Young people respond to me. I tend to keep things light and amusing while at the same time imparting the "meat" of the subject. I have a BA in Criminal Justice and I spent my career in law enforcement at the local and federal levels. My real passion is American History. I also spent nine years in the military. Most of my military time was spent in the Far East. My second passion is reading, and I have experience helping students interpret and understand the meaning behind some of our most important literary works. I have been a sustitute teacher at the middle and high school levels. I have also tutored for the AP Government exam.

I believe very strongly that education is the most important building block for one's future. I find it rewarding if I can help just one young person understand its importance. In doing so I think it is important to make learning fun and not just memorizing without explanation.
