Sitto's ESL Support
About
Experience being raised in a second language home and 25 years of teaching English to non-native English Speakers is why I am highly qualified to teach students Pre-K through Adult ages. I stress vocabulary building and survival skills for ESL students. I have a strong reading and phonics background.
I have taught in the public, private and charter schools as well as privately in the Akron-Cleveland area of OH. Developing state and federal compliant ESL Programs and curriculums for school district-wide use as well as for a private education business has been the highlight of my 25 years career. Partner Teaching at the OHIO TESOL Conferences is another experience in my resume.
More important than all of the above is my caring and sensitive ability to provide individualized instruction based on my assessment of their needs. I use diverse instruction while incorporating a non-threatening environment for each student.
In July of 2019, I completed a 120 hour TESOL Course through International Open Academy even after teaching ESL for 25 years.
One of my passions in life is teaching. I would love to instruct you in English.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Evaluate my own skills to determine my strength and weaknesses in order to be of help to the student. Ask for classroom teacher's reports or input to find a good starting point. Assess students formally and or informally. The expectation of students is set forth from the beginning. As a mom and grandmother, there is a nurturing side to me. Gain the child's confidence to succeed.

My education on paper consists of a Bachelor's in Education and 38 postgrad credits in Ohio universities. 25 years of teaching either elementary regular education grades 2-4 or English as a Second Language grades K - adult qualify me to teach. My major focuses are language arts and ESL.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
When working for a tutoring business which receives a portion of my pay I need to raise my fee from what I might charge otherwise. My fee through Agncies is $45-$60 depending on teaching an individual vs group tutoring. Prep and travel time also factors into the price.
How did you get started teaching?
Upon completion of my Bachelor's I started teaching in a private school in Ohio.
