About
Hi! I have a B.S. in Physics and a Master of Arts in Teaching; I've been teaching high school math and science for the last 11 years. So why does this so-called experienced person have no reviews and no hours, you might ask? Well, I had a baby and had to cut down on my time in the classroom this year. The school I teach at has been wonderfully accommodating to allow me to continue teaching on a part-time basis. But I love teaching and want to get back to doing it more!
I currently teach AP Chemistry and AP Physics (and have for the last 6 years), but I have also taught many middle and high school math classes over the years. My students average 3.3 or higher on the AP Exams each year, much higher than the international averages for these exams. I have taught Honors Chemistry for 5 years as well, focusing on lab skills, critical thinking and data analysis. Discovery is all about what makes science a fun subject to learn! I also love getting students to that higher level of understanding using questioning strategies and analogies I have crafted over time. Students come back from college to tell me how they were the ones helping all of their classmates. One of the best feelings in the world is knowing that I've prepared my students well.
I have taught all levels of math in a high school classroom setting up through precalculus as well: 7th grade math, Pre-algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Advanced Functions & Modeling, Precalculus, Discrete math and an SAT Math prep course that we call Junior Seminar. So I am both very familiar with the material and the curricula for most middle and high school math courses.
I have tutored students from my school every summer who are trying to get ahead in math by taking a class online. But I'm hoping to expand my offerings to other students (like yourself)! Feel free to message me with any questions you might have....and if you are passing by my profile on a whim, good luck on your next exam!!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I take some time to assess a student's needs. If they aren't sure what they want help with, I will ask questions and give a diagnostic test to determine where we should begin.
