Maya Martinez-Shaw

Hi! I’m Ms. Maya. I am currently working as a Preschool Teacher (Pre-K 3’s) in N.C. I love working with students of all ages! Elementary school aged students will forever have a special place in my heart! I’ve taught kindergarten through 6th grade, and my favorite grades to teach are Kindergarten and First Grade. I also love working at the Pre-K level, and have so much fun with my current class of 15 friends. I take a hands on approach to learning, and you can find me on the carpet with my class, or sitting at individual tables set up for small group instruction. I believe every student should have a unique and individualized learning plan; therefore, I make sure to include all learning styles in my lessons. I am fluent in two languages (Spanish and English) and have taught in both a bilingual and monolingual elementary school classroom. What I love the most about teaching is being able to see the direct impact I have on my students, especially when they master a new or challenging skill! I have years of experience of working with and teaching students with special needs, and that has always been so near and dear to my teaching heart.
