The Learning Lab
About
Learning should be fun! I like to find ways to implement fun activities into lessions so that you not only have fun, but you're also more inclined to retain what was taught!
I love being able to help people achieve their goals in a way that is most comfortable for them.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I love to take time to see how YOU learn first! There's no one right way to teach or understand something, so it is my job to figure out the best way to teach it to you so that you understand with ease!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've tutored for 6+ years for all ages, in all subjects. I am also the oldest of 4, so helping with homework, test prep, further understanding of a topic, etc. are all things I am used to/capable of doing. I also am currently pursuing my Masters degree, and have my BS from UNC Chapel Hill in Developmental Psychopathology and Neuroscience.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do! - I charge by the hour; $30.
The first session is only $15, and it's a just a get to know you session! We will talk about your needs, what will work best for the both of us scheduling wise (I'm very flexible), and anything else that is necessary to start our first learning session on a good note!
Most of my students that want tutoring in multiple subjects either add time to their one session, or tutor multiple days a week.
How did you get started teaching?
I am the oldest of 4, so I've been teaching for as long as I can remember! Tutoring was my first real paid job, and one I love to continue doing!
What types of students have you worked with?
I am comfortable working with K-12 of all subjects BUT chemistry...I didn't like it when I was in school, I don't think it's fair for me to teach it!
If you are looking for a chemistry tutor, I can 100% help you to find one suitable for you!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my favorite things to do each year is go to the State Fair! Every year I go, I have to eat a ton of food, and win a huge stuffed animal of some sort to bring home! This year, I won 2!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Check to ensure that they offer a trial session before your first learning session! A teacher/tutor should ALWAYS get to know their student before trying to introduce or go over any topic. It's so important to learn learning styles!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What exactly am I struggling in?
Are there aspects of this topic that I understand, or do I need the whole topic taught to me?
Can I have checkups/quizzes to test my progress?
Is this teacher/tutor capable of meeting my needs?
