About

I have over 25 years of experience in phonics instruction. I am currently a first grade teacher with the public school system. I help children gain the skills necessary to become independent readers.

I love being able to teach a child to read because this necessary skill allows them to become a life-long learner.

Frequently asked questions

My first goal is to find out what my new student knows and is able to do. I will use tools such as a diagnostic test and running records to accomplish this.

I have my bachelors degree in elementary education. I am currently a first grade teacher and teach students how to read all year long. I have over 21 years of teaching experience working with children in grades, pre-k, first grade, second grade, and third grade.

I charge $30 for a thirty minute session, $45 for forty-five minutes and $50 for an hour.

I went to college to become a teacher. I started out working with preschoolers. My goal then, as it still is now, is to teach children to love books and to love reading.

I work with regular ed students as well as children with learning disabilities. I have experience with working with preschoolers all the way through third grade.

I get excited every time I see "it" click for one of my students. I love when they begin to understand how sounds work together and use the strategies I have taught them to put sounds together to form words.

If a student struggles with learning how to read, I would suggest hiring a teacher who has quality experience in the area of phonics and phonetic awareness.

What are your goals for yourself? What do you want to learn? What do you struggle with?
