I have been a science teacher for 5 years in North Carolina. I have taught and tutored other subjects at all levels of education. I am able to work in person and online.
I love helping students become more confident with their education. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the "Ah Ha!" moments that students have when they master a concept.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to know what my students know and what they don't know. I believe it's helpful to know what areas my students are confident with, as well as concepts they struggle with.

I have worked as a middle school science teacher for 5 years in North Carolina.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching after I left my orginal career as an Exercise Physiologist. I wanted to share my love for science and engage students in critical thinking about the world around us.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a very diverse population of students. I am able to work with students of all backgrounds, beliefs, and education level.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I keep a binder of memories from my students. It includes pictures and letters from my students that remind me of all of the fun we have throughout the year.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice to students is to find a teacher that can direct their instruction to the students learning type. A good teacher should be able to differentiate their lessons so that students can learn the information in a variety of ways.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I suggest students think about how they best learn. Find the way that best helps you take in and relate the material to the world around you. Everyone learns differently and knowing your strengths and weaknesses in education will help you throughout life.
