Dorothy's Words
About
I have my BA in Language and Literature from Yale, and am a Master's candidate in Creative Writing at The University of the South. I hvave 25 years' experience as a teacher.
I enjoy sharing what I've learned about words to younger people and, in doing so, sharpening my own understanding about what makes for great writing and beautifully-crafted language. I also enjoy waking up adult minds to new ideas. The delicate craft of shaping thoughts on the page is my obsession and pleasure.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before I take on a student, I seek clarity from the student and parent what his or her goals are. Specific goals make for an organized program of study and measureable advancement. My first class is a paid trial: there's no comittment to ongoing work until we know we're a good fit. I create a folder for each new student in the cloud, and this is how we share study material and homework.
