Master’s Degrees in Spanish & French
Have worked successfully teaching these languages to adult students of all ages, from highschoolers to senior citizens. If you want to learn, but something just isn't clicking... we can figure it out together!
Have also been doing formal and informal ESoL / ESL / TESoL tutoring for most of my life with friends, peers, family, etc. I can explain the intricacies of English in Spanish or French (and maybe German), but I can also explain the same things in simple English to students whose first language I don't know.
Over 30 years of college classroom experience with various methods including conversation, analysis of language patterns, etc. I have been teaching/tutoring online for over 5 years.
My current job is at a community college, and something I love about teaching there is our goal of making education accessible to anyone. I believe that education should be for all people, and lacking academic experience or having difficulties with a subject shouldn't mean an end to your dreams of learning. Everyone has to start somewhere!
In addition to extensive personal experience with my own and my family/friends' Neurodivergent lives, I've had success tutoring and teaching Neurodivergent and Learning Disabled students. Sometimes other instructors even send me their students because they didn’t have patience to teach them, but I could.
We all have our own favorite methods, but the student's learning preferences are what matters most, so I'm always ready to adapt methods to students' needs. We can start by discussing what the student has already tried (what works and what doesn’t work), and go from there.
In many cases, I find the main obstacle to learning a language is time. If you can find the time to really practice, just about anyone can learn just about any language! And I would love to be a part of your language-learning journey.
