Deciphering Dyslexia can screen for dyslexia and early screening.
We work over the internet, working one on one with students. It saves time and money.
As the owner, I have alway enjoyed helping others. As my children had dyslexia, I learned how to help them using the Barton Reading and Spelling System. Once I saw how much it helped, I decided to get certified, so I could help more families. I love seeing my students grow in their reading, spelling, and confidence!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I speak with the parent to find out what problems they are having to make sure I am the correct professional for their needs.
Then I give a short 15 minute screening to the student to find out where they need to start. Once that is determined, tutoring begins.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an advanced certification in the Barton Reading and Spelling System for tutoring. I also have been trained to recognized and screen students for dyslexia.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
There is a minimum of 2 - 50 minute tutoring sessions per week with tutoring during the summer.
How did you get started teaching?
Three of my four children have dyslexia with my son being the most severe. I tried many different programs over the years to teach him how to read with no success. Then a mom told me about the Barton Reading and Spelling System. Wow! What a difference it made in my son's life! I knew other kids needed help. I decided to get certified to tutor. The rest, as they say, is history. I Love helping my students.
What types of students have you worked with?
All of my students have dyslexia in varying degrees. Some have ADD/ADHD, some have Irlen syndrome in addition to dyslexia. So far the ages are from 5 to 18 years old.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My 17 year old student told his parents that when he had children they would be using the Barton System to learn to read. He also wanted to know why they hadn't used this before to teach him to read! His progress has been amazing!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you have dyslexia, you need to be taught how to read and spell using an Orton-Gillingham method. Make sure the tutor is using a qualified program.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
