Kay's Teaching Services
About
I have 6 years of experience teaching, caregiving, mentoring, homeschooling, and educating via Zoom, Google Classroom, and other virtual platforms. My experience has been teaching grades K-12, teaching students with specific learning needs, such as: ADHD, Autism (verbal and nonverbal) or ESL. I teach English, Literacy, Speech and Math (Algebra I, II, Geometry, Statistics). My best practices for keeping classes engaging are: implementing fun but educational activities (to improve student memory retention or their ability to grasp the nuggets of each lesson), intriguing warmups, sharing positive reinforcement for student participation, utilizing breakout rooms or student led discussions for students to have more practice, come up with questions, and gain a sense they have more capability in the classroom, and in their education.
Additionally, I previously taught as a music teacher and give voice and singing lessons. As well as college advisory and preparation, and guidance with grants and scholarships.
As a teacher, I am outspoken, caring, and motivating. I focus on increasing student confidence, and decreasing student stresses about their capability in the classroom. I want my students to be the very best and feel their very best so they will continue to challenge and believe in themselves, far into their futures.
