Arlene Cook
About
My name is Arlene Cook, I've been in the educational field for over 30 years. I began as a K-5 Elem. Classroom Teacher, (G: 1, 2, 3, and 5), developed and taught an interdisciplinary curriculum; Assistant Producer, Leap Frog Enterprise, created and wrote (K-5) English Language Arts (ELA) and Math curriculum books; and served as a (K-8) ELA Assessment Editor for McGraw-Hill Education, and as a (K-5) ELA Content Specialist, Editor at WestEd, where I created, wrote, and edited large scale assessment tests aligned to the Common Core State Standards for various State Dpt. of Education. My expansive work in K-5 ELA makes tutoring even more exciting as I have I so many 'tools in my bag'!
I enjoy tutoring and helping children reach their full potential. Whether working one-on-one or in small groups, the personable aspect of getting to know each individual is essential in working together successfully. Having an understanding of the student, enables me to integrate both traditional and holistic education approaches. In turn, lessons can be student-focused, and meaningful, enhancing skill development. As a result, students are more apt reach their full potential, and goals and objectives are more readily obtained.
