Adjunct English Professor With Master's Of Arts In English

About

I grew up loving to read and write, so I became an English major. I have a Master's degree in English from Winthrop University. While at Winthrop I took a class called The Theory of Tutoring and Writing. I learned different theories of tutoring, as well as how best to approach people with different personalities. I learned how to tutor when there were unique challenges, such as students who learned English as a second language, or students who had disabilities.

I put what I learned into practice from my class while at an internship at the Writing Center of Winthrop. I helped college students work on their papers anywhere from the very beginning to the end stages of the process. Some students came in needing to brainstorm ideas of what to write, while others were at the end stages of the paper and needed more help. Working at the writing center cultivated a love of teaching and tutoring in me. I later went on to work at the Literacy Intervention center where I tutored students from the kindergarten level up to fifth grade. I worked individually with students as well as in groups to help improve their reading and writing.

Helping someone succeed is a rewarding experience. I am currently an adjunct professor at York Technical College. I'm continuing my love of teaching.

I'm happy to help! Tell me what your goals are and I will help you get there.
