I'm a current 3rd year PhD student in Public Health at UNC, with extensive experience in math, statistics, and writing. I have tutored math (algebra, geometry, and statistics) since high school to students of various levels, and been a teaching assistant for several undergraduate classes.
Many kids don't learn well in a traditional learning environment, and I was one of them. I succeeded in school by working hard to discover and develop new ways to learn that worked for me, and now use those skills to try and help others. Many kids don't study well sitting at a desk or reading for hours, and that doesn't mean they can't understand the material.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I try to understand where the student is currently in their learning and where they're trying to go. Then I will work with the student to formulate a plan to help them meet their goal.
