Hey, my name is Juan Rodriguez and I'm currently a sophomore at Duke University. As a Junior in High School, I self-studied for the SAT and scored in the 99th percentile. In my opnion, anybody can do well on this test if they apply themselves and study in a smart, individualized way. As your tutor, I will make sure to answer all of your questions to the best of my ability and to give you the best tips and strategies that will help you succeed!
I know how tedious and frustrating standarized tests can be, so I definitely enjoy being able to help talented students succeed. I think that maintaining a friendly tutor-student relationship ensures that the syudying process will go smoothly, plus it's really cool getting to know people from different backgorunds.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I think that it's important to identify the weaknesses and strengths that said student has in regards to content. In this way, we can focus on improving areas of weakness to ensure that the best possible score is achieved. However, I also think that it's important to do well across the board, so I will provide general studying tips and strategies that will help you succeed in every section of the test.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a High School student I tutored at Mathnasium, a math learning center. My areas of focus were math topics ranging from algebra to AP Calculus, and most of my stduents were also High School students. At Duke University, I have taken various math courses like Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus and Statistsics that have helped deepen my understand of basic concepts that make up the core of the SAT curriculum. In terms of writing and critical reading, I have also taken various courses that required me to write lengthy research papers that helped me solidified my grammar and writing skills.
