SAT & ACT & AP & Classwork Tutors
About
I offer, in conjunction with my colleague Maxwell Guo, highly effective SAT and AP tutoring services. My services are set apart from others because of my focus on knowledge transfer, rather than pure teaching. Given our recent experiences with the SAT and various AP classes, we offer far more than just the content: we provide knowledge and techniques that only fresh real-world experience can provide. Having both recently taken the SAT and ACT, we understand both the content, and the ways to improve and succeed, saving time and effort.
We are obsessively committed to providing the highest standards of training to all of our students, and as such, both of us have extensive experience. I personally have a 1560 SAT, and will be attending Duke University, majoring in Biomedical Engineering, and will graduate at the top of my class. In addition, I have participated in many research projects at leading universities, including Harvard and the University of California, San Diego, and have always had a passion for biology and medicine.
Of course, beyond these academic credentials, I have previously led numerous Middle School Science Olympiad Teams at Davis Drive Middle School, winning multiple awards in regional and state-level competitions. I have also worked with other students in and out of the classroom to get them back onto the right track, to great success.
My colleague, Maxwell, who tutors reading and writing has similarly extensive credentials, with a 1550 SAT (770M/780ERBW) and in-depth experience in AP English Composition and Literature, other high school reading/writing classes, the theory of writing, and the SAT ERBW section.
He has also competed at and won multiple state and national level business competitions requiring advanced writing and oral presentation skills, and is involved in marketing and promotions for various non-profit organizations.
If you need any more information regarding our combined credentials, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We judge the situation of each student in order to craft a personalized package that fits each student's goals and needs. Once we have a clear framework set up, we execute the plan, adjusting it as necessary to maximize results.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
See above for credentials.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing will vary from student to student, but pricing will follow this general outline:
$50/Hour SAT/ACT
$40/Hour AP/Other
How did you get started teaching?
I first started tutoring and teaching when I started my school's tutoring club, and assisted students with getting back onto the right track in terms of schoolwork. From there, I've coached many teams competing in math and science competitions. From there, I've had a passion for teaching and transferring the knowledge I've gained to others.
What types of students have you worked with?
We've worked with students ranging from middle school to high school, in a variety of settings from coaching in academic competitions to a variety of schoolwork.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event I'm fond of is working with a middle school Science Olympiad Team, leading them to a first place finish in regionals, and a second place finish in the state competition. It filled me with a sense of pride to be able to let these talented students accomplish something that they worked so hard for.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Teachers with years of undergraduate and graduate education may not be qualified to teach these topics as those who've just experienced the topics firsthand. With us, there's unique firsthand knowledge that allows for knowledge transfer, rather than teaching/tutoring.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The first question students have to ask themselves is if they're ready for the challenge at hand. Tutoring is just half of the equation, the time and effort you're willing to put in is the second half of the equation for success.
