About
Hi! I'm Alexis! I graduated from Elon University in 2018 with degrees in Applied Math and Computer Science and a minor in Accounting. I love tutoring people of all ages about the topic sthat I am passioante and care about. These include all math, technology, and accounting related topics. During my college years, I was a TA as well as a tutor for most math subjects. After, I decided to continue and tutored local high school students in pre-calculus, calculus, algebra, and geometry. I also teach non-profit classes about computer science to elementry and middle school students. I work full time as a software enginner, but I love helping others realize their full potential on the side. I'm very laid back and make even the most nervous students feel relaxed. I like to build a relationship and trust with all my students. Outside of regular meetings, I am always a text or phone call away for help with a problem even outside of hours. Being young, I feel I am more in touch with the students and understand the struggle they feel since I was also there not too long ago. I look forward to meeting you!!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With a new student I like to get to know them first. What they like to do outside of school? Hobbies, friends, family etc. This helps build trust and also helps me relate theings back to their life. Then I gauge their skills by just observing how they solve problems. That's when I can tell what they need. Maybe it's confidence in their skills or some sprucing up on basic skills. Some jsut need help preparing for the test by giving them extra practice problems. From there I can assess how many days a week will be best and make a plan!

Price varies based on where, when, topic, level, and how far the client is. I try to keep prices low as I do this as more of a passion than a full time job.

I have worked with all ages from K-12.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who is apssionate about helping you. Don't expect changes all over night. Things may take time, but you'll know if they are the right fit.
