Gold Star Reading
About
I am a certified special education teacher specializing in reading and literacy. I currently teach reading and English in a public high school, but I love working with students of all ages. I believe that a solid foundation in reading is one of the most important things a child needs to succeed in school and in life. My experience and education allow me to identify the roadblocks that students encounter, and make a plan to overcome obstacles.
If your child has ever declared that he HATES reading, I would love to take on the challenge of helping him find something about reading that he can enjoy!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know new students by talking informally, playing games, and finding out their interests. I use simple activities to assess strengths and weaknesses, and then make a plan to address areas of need.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a bachelors degree in psychology and a Masters degree in Leadership in Teaching, with a concentration in special education. Over the past seven years, I have focused my professional development on literacy and now teach reading and English.
