About this tutor

If you or your child is struggling with Math, know that you are not alone.

I have a unique process that I've honed over my 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I identify the specific knowledge gaps that are holding students back, and then create customized assignments and assessments to target each problem area. Together we close gaps in their knowledge, and then build from there. Soon, students are able to tackle any problem with confidence.

Of course, I offer all perspective clients a free consultation. And if after the first session either one of us believes that I am not a good fit, I'm happy to refund your money.

After teaching in high schools and colleges, I found that tutoring one-on-one was my true passion. Not everyone learns the same way, and this makes teaching 20-30 students all at once extremely difficult.

Tutoring is, therefore, more effective. I can tailor the lesson to meet the individual student's needs. I love it when I can take a student who is struggling and frustrated, and transform them into a confident learner. It is by far the most rewarding job I've ever had. I absolutely love what I do.

Our son's grade in math went from a C- to an A! We were thrilled and it has given our son more confidence and true math comprehension. I wasn't sure if I would like remote tutoring online especially during Covid, but it has worked really well. Nicholas has an easygoing manner and been great to work with.... definitely would recognize him!!

NIck is no-nonsense but still warm and approachable. He figures out essentially now the student's 'Math brain' works, and where they might have missed some building blocks, and basically rehabilitates their Math skills. Our son, and we, highly recommend him!

My son was really struggling with Math his 5th year and now 6th. I didn't like how he would use negative words to express how he felt he was at math. Ever since Noah began working with Nicholas his attitude and work has improved tremendously, he feels good about his work and looks like he is having fun. Nicholas has helped my son restored some of that confidence he had lost about Math and we are thrilled and very proud.

Very nice and cares about child. A bit expensive for 45 minutes but he takes time to prepare for the lesson ahead of time.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First I have a free-of-charge conversation with the student to determine what they struggle with, and where they are in their coursework. In that conversation I get an idea for where the student is currently, and what their goals are.

Then we start tutoring! Today I tutor exclusively online.

Throughout the process the student will receive:

— Personalized instruction based on individual learning styles

— Specific lesson plans tailored to specific goals

— Additional materials and exercises to help reach those goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

How did you get started teaching?

I got started tutoring in high school. In college I was asked by my professors to tutor peers that weren't doing as well.

When I left graduate school, I decided that I wanted to teach, so I completed a teaching certification to teach in High Schools. Ultimately though, I decided I preferred educating students in a one-on-one environment.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with middle and high school students, as well as college students of various ages and backgrounds. While many of my students have specific learning disabilities, I believe all learners benefit from an individualized approach.
