About this tutor

Hi there! My name is Nicholas Flugga. I have a passion for teaching that I’ve nurtured over the course of my 15 years of experience.

I am an experienced and certified teacher, who not only knows content, but knows how to teach—how to convey at times complicated information in an accessible way. There are a variety of ways that students learn, and a one-size-fits-all approach does not always work.

My goal isn’t just better grades. My goal is to take students who are struggling, anxious, and maybe even afraid—feelings and emotions which can negatively affect other areas of life—and turn it around into confidence and reassurance that they can carry throughout entire lives.

When you sign up for tutoring with me, you’ll get:

— Personalized instruction based on individual learning styles
— Specific lesson plans tailored to specific goals
— Additional materials and exercises to help reach those goals

I love tutoring for the one-on-one interaction that is rarely available in the classroom.

Before working together, I always chat with students free of charge to make sure that I’m a good fit for their needs.

Nicholas is great! Not only is he knowledgable, patient, and helpful, he really cares about what he does and his passion shows.

  • Cathy Robinson

Nicholas is an amazing teacher and tutor. He explains difficult concepts easily and clearly. Most of all, he really invested himself 100% in the sessions, and took time outside of the appointment to prepare reports, assignments, and assessments. Definitely an A+ tutor.

  • Laura Beach

Nicholas helped immensely. He was really dedicated, and the results were fantastic. Test scores and confidence greatly improved.

  • Allison Speers

Nicholas was an excellent tutor. He's extremely knowledgable about the subject matter and very patiently answered all questions. He was able to explain things in multiple ways if it wasn't understood, coming up with creative examples to deliver the message. He cares a great deal about his students, and definitely went above and beyond.

How did you get started teaching?

I got started teaching when I was pursuing my B.S. in Biology and Chemistry. I was asked by my professors to tutor peers that weren't doing as well.

When I left graduate school, I decided that I wanted to teach, so I completed a teaching certification to teach in High Schools. Ultimately though, I decided I preferred educating students in a one-on-one environment.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with high school students and college students of various ages and backgrounds.
