Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process with an ongoing student is to ask where is there confindence level on the subject at hand. If they respond it is high then I will know that this will be a student easy to work with. If the student responds there confindence is low, then we will set a plan that is custom to their needs.
With fast response students I will have them to answer the question first and walk them through step by step to make sure they understand.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently associated at a local literacy council which helps students to obtain their GED or to learn english as a second language. Volunteering there has help me understand the importance of feedback and patience with the students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing is $25 for 30mintues. If needed I can add an extra 10min for $5
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who are just starting school to those who are trying to finish their GED. Having this experience has help me understand that customization is key to helping the student enjoy challenging themselves and to be open to learn new subjects
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be direct. Tutors can appreciate sincerity and are often understanding of students circumstances. It is better to have the tutor know what they are working with in the begining than to tell them after weeks within the sessions.
