The thing that I love about tutoring students is the challenge of unlocking their learning style. There are many students who believe that they don't have what it takes to be successful in a lesson because school systems are not set up to figure out the way a student learns and approach it from there.
I involve my students in interactive, virtual, personal tutoring sessions on ZOOM. I have taught students who have relocated to the U.S. to better navigate the English language. By doing this, they have been able to reach goals far passed what they ever thought that they could set for themselves.
I have also had major success in teaching my students how to better grasp the skill of reading. One of the students that I was tutoring was "diagnosed" with dyslexia by her school. She was never officially diagnosed by a doctor. By working with her, we discovered something. She wasn't dyslexic at all. Nobody had ever been able to truly make her understand how to break down the letters and sounds to put the words together. She went from failing English and being held back 3 times to now being in her senior year of highschool with a B+ in English and Literature. At the moment, she is also learning, comprehending, and writing essays on Shakespeare.
I have also helped many college students in English Comp 1 and 2. They have even been able to save their scholarships through private tutoring lessons.
Needless to say, I adore my job and my students. I'm working towards my Bachelor's in English with the goal of continuing to helpe people of all ages reach their potential and believe in themselves.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with new students is spening the first session fully engaging them and having them perform a few exercises that show me how they learn. That is the key to it all. If a student's way of learning can be accessed, they are unstoppable! I host individual, virtual tutoring sessions over ZOOM.
I take my time in getting to know the student, and I tell them about myself, as well. I address any immediate concerns that they may have about the subject that they are wanting help in, and we get to work. We make it fun too, though! The best way to help a student to learn is by interactive lessons that keep their attention!
I also do not believe in the words, "I can't." If I hear thos words, I will do everything in my power to make my student KNOW that they can, and they will. I am not only a tutor. I am an influencer and a cheerleader. Know that you are not alone in your education and your goals! If you have one person in your life who will help you acheive your dreams, it is me! We can do this! We WILL do this!
